Consortium to develop NFC packaging across UK supply chain
The Centre 
for Process Innovation (CPI) has formed a specialist consortium to create a UK manufacturing supply chain that will support the widespread adoption of NFC packaging. The three year project aims to “develop new processes, equipment and applications to enable the high volume manufacturing — billions or even trillions — of printed electronic components that incorporate NFC,” the company says.
“The project is providing a technology platform to develop new, innovative and novel functionalities and applications, alongside the building of specialist skills and capabilities,” CPI adds. “A key emphasis is to apply highly automated and high speed integration techniques to meet targets costs of 1% per NFC tag.

er-songwriter Beatie Wolfe promotes her new single “Take me Home” with a very special jacket – designed by Mr. Fish, who created designs for David Bowie or Mick Jagger – and demostrates music as wearable: When someone taps it with his phone it brings up a page showcasing Wolfe’s new single.
“I just wanted to bring back — or sort of revive — the best of that tangibility, that storytelling and that sense of ceremony that I experienced as a kid,” she said. “But make people that were streaming and downloading from iTunes and all of that, make them really want to engage with it.”
She’s also turned her album “Montagu Square” into a deck of NFC-enabled cards — just tap your phone on a card and you can listen to one of the songs on the album.

Digital Easter egg hunt on an out of home poster
This year mobilcom-debitel invited people to a digital egg hunt on an out of home poster (2,50 m x 3,50 m).
All they needed was their NFC enabled smartphone. While searching with their smartphone the users received hints as text messages such as “A bit further left” and when hitting the right NFC tag they were linked to a mobile responsive registration page to enter the raffle.

Studie belegt starke Akzeptanz von NFC
Das NFC-Forum hat eine Studie durchführen lassen, um mehr über die Akzeptanz von NFC durch Verbraucher zu erfahren. Das Ergebnis: Mehr als 75% der Teilnehmer waren „mit ihrer NFC-Erfahrung sehr zufrieden” – im Vergleich zu einer Zufriedenheitsrate von 53% für QR-Codes. Die Befragten gaben Bestnoten für Geschwindigkeit, Einfachheit und Kontrolle von NFC. Interaktion mit den Kunden: Viele Einsatzfelder für NFC
NFC (Near Field Communication) ist eine Kontaktlos-Technologie zum Austausch von Daten, die vielen vielleicht schon aus dem Payment-Bereich bekannt ist. Hierbei wird das Smartphone an der Kasse kurz an ein Terminal gehalten, und die Bezahlung erfolgt. Auch bei Apple kommt die Technik neuerdings zum Einsatz. Das Unternehmen hat NFC in die neue iPhone-Generation integriert. Doch in der Technologie steckt offenbar noch mehr Potenzial.
